The Flipsydz- A-cappella Doo-wop

Spanning 3 generations of vocalists, The Flipsydz create a sound from ‘the golden oldies' that has the ‘youthful tone' of today's generation.

The group concentrates on performing a cappella (without instrumentation) often evoking memories from the groups of the 50s and 60s singing ‘doo wop' on the street corners of Philadelphia and Brooklyn.

The Flipsydz' members include accomplished operatic singers, choral group members and solo artists who have performed in Las Vegas as well as internationally. Though their backgrounds vary, the members of The Flipsydz share a common love for a cappella doo wop music, and creating wonderful harmony together.

The Flipsydz are able to recreate the ‘authentic' sounds you will remember, while also adding their own unique style to some of their repertoire.

Whether you watched Dick Clark's American Bandstand in the 50s, 60s or 70s, (or re-runs in the 80s or 90s!) you will think you've traveled back in time when you hear The Flipsydz.

Come take a trip down memory lane, and we'll catch you on the flip side....

Tom Torebka-Solo Opera

Over the years, I have sung in bars, night clubs, restaurants, cruise ships, theaters, studios, churches, museums, libraries, auditoriums, gymnasiums, hotels, ski lodges, fairgrounds, parks, fashion shows, shopping malls and even a couple of corn fields. I have been performing professionally since the late 80's, as a soloist and with several bands, vocal groups, orchestras and opera & theater companies. My repertoire includes opera, theater, rock, classical, sacred, jazz and standards.

I have performed 4 seasons with Lake George Opera at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Productions have included Mikado, Candide, L'elisir d'amore, Susannah, La Cenerentola and HMS Pinafore. I am currently a member of LGO On Tour - a quartet that sings at fundraisers and corporate functions year-round.

I am a founding member of A.R.I.A (formerly Albany Ensemble), a vocal group performing dramatic, moving and entertaining repertoire from the world's great musical traditions. In 2005, the group did a 2 week concert tour of Poland, playing for full houses and receiving rave reviews. We did the same in Bremen, Germany in 2006 and 2007.

I have been a Cantor and music leader at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake since 2001, where I sing at weekly masses, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. In 2004, I was chosen to be the Cantor for the dedication ceremony of the new church - a very rare and sacred event, performed by the Bishop. I was also the Cantor for the Bishop's Easter mass in 2006, which aired on 3 tv stations on Easter day.

I have acted in productions with theater companies, including Schenectady Light Opera, Spotlight Players and Northeast NY Family Players, and I sang the roles of Dr. Grenvil and The Marquis in Glens Falls Symphony's concert performance of La Traviata. I also sing the National Anthem for sporting events at the Times Union Center (formerly Pepsi Arena).

On the rocking side of things, I have fronted local bands Hung Jury, Vision, Dr Sooss, The Sequel, Odyssey and Rainmaker, as well as Fallout (Arizona), Fourgone (Connecticut) and X-IT (Connecticut). I am currently the bass/baritone for the a cappella doo wop group, The Flipsydz.

Dorothy Jane Siver & The Siver Family- Bluegrass

Dorothy Jane Siver has been playing music most of her life. With weekly piano lessons since she was 4 years old, her private teacher explained to her parents that she had a musical "gift". At the age of nine she began taking private violin lessons with the local music teacher. Rapidly learning with the popular "Suzuki" method, the two private music teachers continued to give her praise as an above average music student. Dorothy auditioned with 400 musicians and was chosen to become a member of the Vermont Youth Orchestras String group as a Violinist for the 2007 season. Practice was to become more intense now. Piano lessons & daily practice, private violin lessons & daily practice, VYO String rehearsals weekly, VYO String daily practice and a strict homeschool program was starting to put some stress on the young musician. Her parents became concerned as the smiles were deteriorating due to the strictness of the "classical music" routine. A quick plan was adopted and her parents rushed to a local violin shop to find her a cure. They purchased her a "fiddling" book with a cd and took it home for her to play. She not only smiled while playing, but started stomping and swaying as she fell in love with
